Child Care during provincial lockdown

Published by Maureen Farris on

Child care centres are allowed to remain open for full day programs for children 0-3.8 years of age during the provincial lockdown. Therefore, we will be continuing to offer our full day infant, toddler and preschooler programs, operating during our regular hours of 7:30AM to 5:30PM.

We are not, however, permitted to operate programming for school age children (Kindergarten to grade 6). Our families with school aged children will need to apply for Emergency Child Care through the City of Peterborough for the week of January 4th to 8th. We are anticipating that we will be able to resume our regular before and after school programs when children are permitted to return to school on January 11, 2021.

Emergency child care services for children of JK/SK and school age (3.8 years -12 years) will be available for essential service workers in the City and County of Peterborough.  In order to be eligible for the emergency child care plan for essential services workers, families must have no other option for child care and be working outside of their home.

If your family qualifies for emergency child care, please follow this link to register your child(ren):  OneHSN.com/Peterborough. Registration, approvals and communications will be managed by the chosen Emergency child care agency. Registrations will open December 24 at noon.

Please be aware that during the lockdown we will continue to screen your child(ren) upon arrival at either site. We will be reviewing with you the questions provided by Peterborough Public Health and your child’s temperature will be taken. The provincial government is also asking families to continue to use the online screening tool before attending child care: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

We will also be continuing with our extensive cleaning and sanitizing protocols at each of our sites. This will include thorough cleaning and sanitizing of all toys and all of our spaces. We will continue to maintain our separate cohorts, and our staff will continue to wear PPE.

We thank you so much for your patience and support during the lockdown. Should you have any questions please reach out to us by phone or email.
